Parkland Art & Design Faculty Exhibition

An annual showcase of art created by faculty, the exhibition runs through Sept. 19 and features sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, video, photography, metals, ceramics, and graphic design. Exhibiting faculty members include Louis Ballard, Chris Berti, Lisa Costello, Melinda McIntosh, Craig McMonigal, Laura O’Donnell, Kristina Reese, Denise Seif, Peggy Shaw, Tim Stiles, Joan Stolz, Matthew Watt, Kelly White, Liza Wynette, and Paul Young.

During his gallery talk at 6:30 p.m., McMonigal, an instructor in photography, will discuss his work in the exhibition. He won the 2015 Illinois Community College Trustees Association Award for Outstanding Part-time Faculty Member. McMonigal will retire from Parkland in January.

"We are proud that gifted Parkland faculty members won the top full- and part-time teaching awards from ICCTA this year."

McMonigal is a 21-year faculty member who has been praised by colleagues for his commitment to the college, the program, and the students. Denise Seif, Art and Design faculty member, said McMonigal is eager to accept new responsibilities, helping the Art and Design program and the photography degree within the Communication program grow by actively supporting assessment and the development of new curriculum.

During his time with Parkland’s Art and Design program, McMonigal has developed new courses in photography, implemented innovative techniques, and worked to help create the Associate in Applied Science in Photography program. He is a member of the Society for Photographic Education, and he has served as the Parkland representative on the Illinois Higher Education Art Association.
