An annual showcase of art created by faculty. Featuring sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, video, photography, metals, ceramics, and graphic design. Exhibiting faculty members include Louis Ballard, Chris Berti, Lisa Costello, and Melinda McIntosh. In addition to Craig McMonigal, Laura O’Donnell, Kristina Reese, Denise Seif, Peggy Shaw, Tim Stiles, and Joan Stolz. As well as Matthew Watt, Kelly White, Liza Wynette, and Paul Young.
During his gallery talk, McMonigal, a photography instructor, will discuss his work. He won the 2015 Illinois Community College Trustees Association Award for Outstanding Part-time Faculty Member. McMonigal will retire from Parkland in January.
"It is not only an honor that Craig received the 2015 Outstanding Part-time Faculty Member Award from Parkland for his exemplary contributions to our college, but it is exciting that he was recognized statewide for his talents as well." Parkland College President Tom Ramage said. "We are proud that gifted Parkland faculty members won the top full- and part-time teaching awards from ICCTA this year."
McMonigal is a 21-year faculty member. Colleagues have praised him for his commitment to the college, the program, and the students. Denise Seif, Art and Design faculty member, said McMonigal is eager to accept new responsibilities. Helping the Art and Design program and the photography degree within the Communication program grow. Actively supporting assessment and the development of a new curriculum.
During his time with Parkland’s Art and Design program, McMonigal has developed new photography courses. Along with carrying out innovative techniques, and working to help create the Associate in Applied Science in Photography program. He is a member of the Society for Photographic Education. He has also served as the Parkland representative on the Illinois Higher Education Art Association.
