The Veterinary Technician
Respect for animals and concern for their well-being are the foundation for
a rewarding career in the veterinary technology field. As a veterinary
technician, you will play an integral role on the veterinary health team
caring for all types of animals, from domestic pets to wild animals.
As a veterinary technician, your responsibilities might include caring for
hospitalized animals, performing physical exams, taking radiographs, conducting
laboratory tests, administering medication, inducing and monitoring anesthesia,
assisting the doctor in surgery, and providing client education.
Please note that this is not a pre-veterinary medicine program. If you are interested in pre-veterinary medicine, contact the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois.
