Our SWFT  team works diligently to make sure you have access to a wide range of advising and career resources.  It is our mission to make sure you develop your skills in the classroom, and your ability to land a job in your field.

Employment Connections: SWFT is focused on making sure you are prepared to take advantage of career opportunities.  The department is connecting with employers who are interested in YOU!  Watch your email for updates about jobs in your field.  If you need assistance putting together resumes or cover letters, please send an request to the following email address (swft@parkland.edu). 

Tutorial Thursdays: This is SWFT's current tutorial-style webinar series that focuses on improving your visibility with employers and gaining access to hidden career opportunities.  Informational email correspondences are sent out, so you can see how the webinar/workshop can help you in your career pursuit.

Remote Career Advising

You are currently able to get career advising appointments.  To set an appointment, please send a request (along with a brief description of your needs) to swft@parkland.edu.  Career advising sessions focus on assisting you with identifying career opportunities, as well as facilitating your understanding of effective ways to land the job you are seeking. 

Remote advising sessions will usually take place using Microsoft Teams.  You can access and use Microsoft Teams for free by visiting this website (https://teams.microsoft.com), or if you click here.  Once there, you will log in using your Parkland email credentials.  Live appointment availability may be possible in limited capacity.

Career Advising Session Preparation 

  1.  Identify the areas your career advisor can best assist you.
  2.  Be prepared to take notes.
  3. Take ownership of your career advising sessions and inquire about challenges you are facing.
