About the Wellness Center

The purpose of the Parkland College Wellness Center is to promote wellbeing within our community of students by combining all the dimensions of wellness to emphasize a comprehensive approach to wellbeing through healthy behaviors and informed choices.

Through purposeful collaborations with our on-campus community wellness partners, we are here to provide resources, referrals, information, and programming with YOU IN MIND.

  • Referral services to area clinics, hospitals, and physicians
  • Blood pressure monitoring and weight management
  • Tobacco and smoking cessation
  • Immunization clinics
  • Collaboration with college departments to provide health events, programs, and initiatives
  • Alcohol and drug education
  • Blood drives

Vaccine Clinic

The annual flu vaccine clinic is coming on October 17 and 18, hosted by CUPHD and Student Life. 

The flu shot will be available in the Student Life and Wellness Center (U111) on:

  • Tuesday, October 17 from 9 am – 2 pm
  • Wednesday, October 18 from 9 am – 2 pm

Pre-registration is required to ensure enough vaccines are available to meet the needs of Parkland College.

You are also required to fill out the CUPHD Vaccine Consent Form. Please bring a printed, filled-out copy with you to your appointment, if possible.

C-UPHD Campus Health Clinic

Parkland College Wellness Center, in partnership with Champaign Urbana Public Health Department, offers on-campus health services. Please call 217/352-7961 to schedule an appointment or visit the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District at 201 West Kenyon Road, Champaign IL for health-related needs. CUPHD will hold health clinic hours at the following time:

  • Wednesdays from 9 am – 1 pm

  • Condoms
  • Birth Control
  • PrEP
  • Flu vaccinations
  • Pregnancy Testing
  • Assistance connecting to the insurance marketplace

Lactation Room

Parkland College Student Life and Wellness Center offers a designated lactation area on-campus for nursing mothers. Please visit the Office of Student Life and Wellness U111 and check in at the front desk. A secured space will be made available on a first come, first serve basis.

Amenities:

  • Private room
  • Comfortable chair and table to accommodate bottles and pumping equipment
  • Running water to clean pump parts

We recommend that you bring a small cooler to store your breast milk.  

Meditation Space

The meditation room, located in the Office of Student Life and Wellness U111, is available to members of the Parkland community who are looking for a quiet space to reflect, meditate, or pray. The room is accessible Monday through Friday from 8 am – 5 pm. Please visit the Office of Student Life and Wellness in U111 and check in at the front desk. A secured space will be made available on a first come, first serve basis.

  • General eating is not permitted. Food or drinks for meditation or prayer purpose are appropriate.
  • Please keep activities that might disturb others (i.e. speaking, music, chanting) to a minimum.
  • Personal items should not be left in the space.
  • Requests can be made for a space with a wash station for students who perform ritual cleansings.
  • Problems with this room are to be reported to the Student Life front desk.
Alcohol and Drugs

Parkland College has developed a process to preventillicit drug and alcohol misuse among its students and employees. Our resources include educational programs, referrals, and college disciplinary actions. Students with alcohol or other drug-related problems are encouraged to contact the campus Wellness Center for referrals to private and community agencies.

Parkland College is committed to establishing a drug-free environment. The institution also prohibits the use of tobacco, vapes, or any other form of e-cigarettes on campus and at college sponsored events.
