The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a nationally recognized program that provides the opportunity to earn college credit for knowledge acquired outside of classes, such as work or independent study. There are 33 exams in 5 subject areas. Before registering for a CLEP exam make sure that your institution accepts CLEP test results for course proficiency credit. Every institution sets their own policies, so it’s wise to check with your school before you take a CLEP test.
CLEP testing is done by appointment. There is a $20 administrative fee paid to Parkland and a $80 per test fee that must be paid via credit card to the College Board when you log in to take an exam. Any exam requiring an essay, such as American Literature or College Composition, has an additional $10 fee.

CLEP website for more information.
