SWFT APPLICATION PROCESS

Step One: Submit an Application for Your Desired SWFT Program

There are two scholarship options for SWFT applicants: SWFT Short-Term Training and SWFT + Healthcare.

SWFT staff will be able to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements for the SWFT Program once you submit your application. Applications completed by the deadlines listed below will be given full consideration for admission to the SWFT short-term training or SWFT + Healthcare program. Applications received after the program deadline will be given consideration on a rolling basis according to program and scholarship availability. Watch for an email from swft@parkland.edu with information about next steps in the application process– check your junk and spam folders regularly.

NOTE: Applicants applying to SWFT + Healthcare must already be accepted into the Healthcare program they are seeking assistance with.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:

Spring 2024: December 8, 2023

CDL & Advanced Forklift: No deadline - rolling admission

Please note:
Completing the Pre-screening does not guarantee that you will be accepted to the SWFT program. It is important that you answer all questions to the best of your ability, as you will be asked to provide verification of your answers if you are accepted to the SWFT program.

If you need assistance in completing the Pre-Screen Eligibility Application or need access to a computer, please contact the SWFT program at 217/353-2150 to schedule an appointment with one of our advisors for help.

Step Two: Complete All SWFT Application Steps

After reviewing your Application for Scholarship Eligibility, SWFT staff will contact you to discuss your options.

If you are not eligible for the SWFT program, SWFT staff will make an appointment to meet with you to assist you in exploring alternatives at Parkland College.

If you are eligible for the SWFT program, we will schedule the remaining steps in the SWFT application process which include:

  • Parkland College application
  • Financial Aid application
  • Academic Assessment
  • In-Person Interview
  • Any additional requirements for your chosen certificate

Step Three: Attend SWFT Orientation for Admitted Students

All admitted students are required to attend an in-person SWFT Orientation session before starting classes. Further information about these sessions will be provided to admitted students.
