Surgical Technology Program
Step 1: Submit Transcripts
All transcripts must be sent from the
original institution directly to Parkland at
admissions@parkland.edu
- High School or GED (if high school transcripts were previously sent prior to graduation, have them re-sent).
- All college transcripts (other than Parkland). Request final Fall transcripts be sent in January.
Step 2:
Verify Transcript Receipt
Call Admissions at 217/351-2482 to verify that they received your transcripts and to see if you need assessment testing. If you do not need assessment testing, you may skip step 3.
Step 3: Assessment Testing
Visit parkland.edu/assessment for more information on assessment testing.
- Reading – place into college-level reading or have earned a “C” or above in CCS 099
- English – must be eligible to enroll in ENG 101
Are you a non-native speaker of English?
If so, you must take the TOEFL and achieve a minimum or greater score of 22-22-17-16. This must be completed prior to applying.
- Math – place out of MAT 060 within the past two years or completion of college-level math within the past five years. Note: developmental math expires in two years.
- Science courses used for scoring expire after five years (BIO, CHE and PHY)
Step 4: Meet with an Advisor
Schedule an appointment with an Academic Success Advisor for Pre-Health Professions. Visit room U267, call 217/351-2219, or book an appointment online to review assessment scores and create a plan of study.
Step 5: Meet with Program Director
Schedule an appointment with Janice Grewatz, Program Director, at Surgical Technology Advising.
