About workforce development

Parkland College Workforce Development facilitates innovative, relevant, and responsive training to empower individuals, strengthen the workforce, and drive regional economic growth. We are committed to offering a continuum of services and continuous training opportunities that build a skilled, adaptable workforce, supporting lifelong learning and ongoing career advancement. Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships at Parkland College provide hands-on, paid training in a real-world setting, allowing students and incumbent workers to earn while they learn. Combining classroom instruction with on-the-job experience, apprenticeships help individuals build and enhance skills in high-demand fields, preparing them for career entry or advancement. Whether you're starting out or looking to upskill, apprenticeships offer valuable work experience, industry connections, certifications, and a paycheck!


Adult Education

Parkland College's Adult Education provides many free classes to help you get the skills you need to start college or find a good job. Any student who wishes to earn a High School Equivalency Certificate (i.e. GED, HiSet), improve basic skills needed for success in college, or take classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) will benefit from Adult Education classes.


SWFT

Support for Workforce Training (SWFT) is a scholarship program at Parkland College that funds in-demand career certificates. These carefully selected certificates offer practical training and valuable experiences, preparing you for high-paying industries. SWFT covers certification costs and provides comprehensive academic and career services to ensure your success.
