CobraVenture Seeks New Student Cohort for 2022

CobraVenture Seeking Students for Third Cohort

Parkland College’s CobraVenture program for aspiring student entrepreneurs is seeking students this fall for its third cohort.

Applications for CobraVenture 2022 open today and stay open through Thursday, November 4. Information sessions about the program will be held Thursday, October 7, from noon to 1 p.m. in Room A175 and virtually on Zoom from 6 to 7 p.m. Applications can be found online at parkland.edu/cobraventure.

CobraVenture launched in January 2019 as a cohort of current Parkland College students who want to start their own business while still enrolled in college. Students can be part of any academic program to apply, but the thread that ties them together will be the desire to take their business idea and make it a reality with assistance from a supportive, semester-long, co-curricular program. While students do not receive academic credit for participation, they gain real-world skills that enhance what they have learned in the classroom.

Selected students will attend a series of evening educational workshops starting Jan. 13, where they will connect with Parkland faculty, alumni, and local business leaders. Participation is free but requires a high level of commitment. Students will learn how to start their business plan and become their own boss. Session facilitator Marc Changnon will join local community and business leaders at the workshop to help students succeed.

A CobraVenture capstone Pitch Showcase will take place May 23, where students can pitch their business to the community and earn up to $3,000 in seed money.

CobraVenture, part of the Parkland Entrepreneurial Network (PEN), is a collaboration of the Office of the Vice President of Communications and External Affairs, Parkland College Community Education, and the Parkland Foundation.
