Dr. Maureen Banks was elected as a District 505 Parkland College trustee in April 2021. An active participant in the Champaign-Urbana community, Dr. Banks has served multiple-year terms on several local and national boards. She currently serves on the Carle Institutional Review Board, Illinois Community College Board, and the Midwest Higher Education Compact.

Dr. Banks holds a Ph.D. in human resources education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a M.S. in preventive medicine and environmental health from the University of Iowa, and a B.S. in biology from Western Illinois University.

Dr. Banks retired as director of the Division of Safety and Compliance at the University of Illinois. Her career has been in safety and environmental compliance in private industries and public institutions, including DuPont de Nemours, Inc., Southland Corporation, Banks Safety Consultants, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Maureen and her husband Sam have three adult children: Bryan (Kayla), Brittany Banks Simon (Coulter), and Danielle Banks; and four grandchildren.
