Dr. Maureen Banks was elected as a District 505 Parkland College trustee in April 2021. An active participant in the Champaign-Urbana community, Dr. Banks has served multiple-year terms on several local and national boards. She currently participates in the Carle Institutional Review Board, the Champaign Rotary Foundation Board, and the Quincy University Board of Trustees.
Dr. Banks earned her bachelor’s degree in biological science from Western Illinois University, a master’s in preventative medicine and environmental health from the University of Iowa, and a doctorate in human resources education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Banks recently retired from her position as director of the Division of Safety and Compliance at the University of Illinois. Her career has been invested in safety and environmental compliance in private industries and public institutions, including DuPont de Nemours, Inc., Southland Corporation, Banks Safety Consultants, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Maureen and her husband Sam have three adult children: Bryan (Kayla), Brittany Banks Simon (Coulter), and Danielle Banks; and three grandchildren.
