Retaking the exam

  • If you failed
You may retake an exam if you fail, but you’ll need to re-register, pay the full exam fee, and reschedule with the Assessment Center. Some exams require a waiting period before you can re-take them, and most exams require that you present your failed score report—signed by a flight or ground instructor—when you re-take them. For more details about retaking your specific exam, visit PSI FAA Exams.

  • If you passed
You may retake an exam if you passed but want to try for a higher score. However, if you score lower on your retake, that will be recorded as your final score. Most of the same rules pertaining to retaking after failing an exam apply to retaking for a higher score. You’ll need to re-register, pay the full exam fee, and reschedule with the Assessment Center. For more details about retaking your specific exam, visit PSI FAA Exams.
