Parkland College Announces Year-Round College for Kids This Fall

College for Kids: Fall Edition begins in September

Community Education at Parkland College announced its annual summer program College for Kids is now year-round, beginning this fall.

Students ages 6–18 will explore exciting classes in art, science, cooking, and more.

In STEM Explorers: Microbit Programming & Engineering Adventure, students will learn to code, create, and engineer. In Dare to Draw and More, students will experiment with different tools and techniques to create compelling characters for comics, animation, and video games, among other mediums.

"College for Kids has been a longstanding summer tradition for years, giving children a chance to explore, create, and learn in a fun and engaging environment," said Youth Program Manager Kathy Buyze. "We are thrilled to expand our flagship program into the fall and spring, so families can enjoy the same high-quality learning opportunities year-round."

In Felt It! Sculpting with Fiber Arts, students will discover the art of sculpting with wool. This hands-on needle felting class transforms fibers into their own unique three-dimensional creation.

Additionally, six culinary classes will be offered, including dumplings, fall baking, decorating cupcakes and cake, and more.

College for Kids: Fall Edition begins with Orienteering for Families for students ages 10–13 and families on Saturday, September 20, exploring the great outdoors. Visit parkland.edu/CFKfall for more information or call 217/351-2235 to register.
