Parkland Theatre Presents 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse and Zombie Prom

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College Theatre presents Creature Double Feature, including 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, an Actors' Studio Production written by Don Zolidis and directed by Melissa Goldman, and Zombie Prom, written by John Dempsey with music by Dana Rowe, directed by Jacob Deters, at the Parkland Harold and Jean Miner Theatre, November 9-19.

10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse: It's the end of the world, and hordes of rampaging zombies are about to kill you. What do you do? Try your hand at kung fu against the undead? Attempt to reason with creatures that would rather eat brains than use them? Turn to this handy and hilarious guide to survive the apocalypse! (Hint: "Sacrifice the weak" is step number one.) Melissa Goldman directs a cast that includes Hannah Wurthmann, Macey Hamm, Jera Sotero, Izzy Mangren, Braedon Arnett, Spencer Baker, Hope Varvel, Jay Kaboff, and Erik Tanton.  Zombie Prom: This girl-loves-ghoul rock 'n' roll off-Broadway musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where a zany, tyrannical principal lays down the law. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing but determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate – but most of all, he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead, while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue, while a tuneful selection of original songs (in the style of the 50s hits) keeps the action rocking across the stage.  With music direction by Caitlin Richardson and choreography by Whitney Havice, Jacob Deters directs a cast that includes Kyle Klein II, Tina Radi, Emily Hogan, Andrew Simek, Erin Kaufman, Courtney Klein, Alison Wiltgen, Fred Scher, Russell Zillman, Jay Kaboff, Jenna Hall, Phia Marino, Liz Martin, Nicholas Perez-Jandrich, and Samantha Wells. Performances for this double feature take center stage in the Parkland Harold and Jean Miner Theatre on November 9, 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and November 12, 19 at 3 p.m. Both shows are family-friendly. Tickets for adults are $25, $18 for students, youth, seniors, and veterans, and $12 for children 12 years and under. The opening night performance is half-price of an adult ticket, $12.50.
