Meet the Career Services Staff: Megan Kirkhart

Parkland College welcomes new Career Services Manager

Throughout the spring and summer, a consistent message was visible across Career Services webpages: “Appointments are temporarily unavailable”. We are thrilled to announce that this is no longer the case, as the Career Services department at Parkland College welcomes Megan Kirkhart as our new Career Services Manager.

Originally from Jacksonville, IL, Megan graduated from Illinois College with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and Ecological Science. She continued her studies at University of Illinois at Springfield, where she earned her Master of Art in Human Development Counseling. She served as a mental health counselor at various central Illinois facilities before making her way into higher education.

Megan has over 10 years of experience in college Admissions and Career Services in Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin. After spending the last five years living in Appleton, WI, she is returning to her central Illinois roots as she joins the Parkland team.

Megan began her current role as Career Services Manager in July 2025. She will lead the Career Services team to support students and community members in all stages of their career journey – from exploring career pathways and developing resumes to internship support and preparing for job interviews. She will also work closely with Parkland faculty and community partners to strengthen career-related programming and employer outreach. Visit www.parkland.edu/careerservices to learn how you can take advantages of our many resources, including 1-1 career advising appointments.

Outside of work, Megan can be found spending time with her family, listening to her favorite true crime podcast, or relaxing at her family’s lake campsite in Jacksonville.
