WEEKS 1 & 2
Students will meet for 2.5 hours, two evenings a week at Parkland for hands-on lab sessions focused on learning about the Allerton project, the history of east-central Illinois, and the archaeological process.
WEEKS 3 & 4
Students will conduct field survey, shovel-testing, and excavations at historic sites within the boundaries of Allerton Park, just south of Monticello, Illinois.
Participants will be in the field five, 8 hour days per week, during this 2-week period
(No class Thursday, July 4, 2019).
WEEKS 5 & 6
Students will meet for 2.5 hours, two evenings a week at Parkland to wash, sort, and label artifacts; learn and practice artifact analysis methods; and write up and present finding results.
