Kory Allred, Ph.D., PLS, EIT, has gained most of his survey experience working for small- and mid-sized engineering and surveying firms in northern Illinois. He is licensed in Illinois as well as Indiana and is a certified FAA Part 107 unmanned aerial systems (UAS) pilot in utilizing drones for large scale surveying and mapping. Kory has experience in several types of surveys including topographic, subdivision, mortgage, ALTA, hydrographic, control, construction, and municipal surveys.

Kory teaches land surveying and construction management courses in the Agriculture/Engineering Science and Technologies department at Parkland.  Prior to Parkland, Kory was the primary instructor for the courses that comprise the Geomatics emphasis at Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb, Illinois. He has also taught various types of surveying and construction management courses at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Rend Lake Community College, and Westwood College

Kory earned his PhD in Geography from NIU, his dissertation titled “Quantitative Morphometric Analysis of Terrestrial Glacial Valleys and the Application to Mars.” Kory’s other research interests include glacial landforms, geomorphology, unmanned aerial systems, hydraulic fracturing, and Geographic Information Systems.
