Parkland College offers students, ages 8-13, an opportunity to experience learning in fun, innovative ways with hands-on, interactive classes. Many classes are designed using a STEAM model, while others offer young students experiences to explore potential careers, or help students develop and build key skills for the future. During the academic year, activities will challenge young students to try new experiences and advance their skills while making new friends. Our small classes offer students of all abilities an opportunity to excel.

SUMMER FUN 2018 – summer camps for kids, ages 8-13

Looking for a great summer experience for your student? COLLEGE FOR KIDS (CFK) is an enriching and exciting summer camp designed for students, ages 8-13. Let your student experience taking some fantastic classes on a college campus in the areas technology, science, math, engineering, the arts, culinary, writing, acting and more! While providing challenging experiences, we also expose students to a collaborative, compassionate learning atmosphere that will motivate them to achieve their potential.

  • Session I: June 18-28 (Monday-Thursday)
  • Session II: July 9-19 (Monday-Thursday)
  • Classes meet at 12:45-2:45pm and 3-5pm

Registration required. The registration deadline for classes held June 18-28 is June 4. The registration deadline for classes held July 9-19 is June 25. No refunds will be issued for classes dropped after the registration deadline.

College for Kids Scholarships
We want to make College for Kids affordable for all kids. If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch, they are eligible for a reduced registration fee at $129 per class.

A limited number of scholarships are available for students who do qualify for free or reduced lunch at school. Review our frequently asked questions below for more information or click here for scholarship forms.

Frequently Asked Questions about College For Kids:

How do I register my child?
To register, visit parkland.edu/ceRegister. Use your computer, tablet, or phone to register online, 24 hours a day! Our online registration system provides you with an easy system for registration, payment and confirmation.

You are highly encouraged, as the parent or guardian, to set up your account using a HOUSEHOLD profile before you register. You may include multiple children from your household. This will save you time and ensure that the registration process goes smoothly.

Registrations are taken on a first-come, first served basis. Class sizes are limited, so register early. Please only register your student for classes in which s/he wishes to take. Classes with low enrollment will be cancelled.
What if a class is full?
If the class you prefer is full, you may add your child to the wait list. Simply select ADD to Waiting List when making your class selection. Should a space become available you will be contacted. Payment is required to secure a seat. If there is a conflict with current registration you will have the option to transfer your child’s enrollment.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $159 per class. Payment is required at the time of registration. If you register online, payment must be made with a credit or debit card.
What ages do you serve?
CFK classes are for youth ages 8-13 years. All students must meet the age requirement for specific classes by the first day of class. Those who do not meet the age requirement will not be able to participate.
What is the cancellation policy?
Requests for cancellations must be made before the registration deadline to secure a 100% refund. If a class is cancelled by CFK, you will be notified. We will provide you with alternative class options where space is available. If no option meets your satisfaction, a full refund will be provided.
Do you provide transportation?
Parkland College does not provide transportation to CFK. You are responsible for making arrangements. Please drop off and pick up your child at the designated CFK drop off/pick up location each day. Please let us know if your child will ride an MTD bus so a CFK staff member can meet him or her at the bus stop.
What are the drop off and pick up procedures?
Students must be dropped off according to their class schedules. Classes begin at 12:45 pm and 3:00 pm. Students should be dropped off between 12:30-12:40 pm, or 2:45-2:55 pm. No student may be dropped off before 12:30 pm or 2:45pm.

Your child will be greeted by our staff and then escorted as a group to the classroom. At the end of class, students will be escorted back to the CFK drop off and pick up location. Those staying for a second class will be supervised between classes.

Classes end at 2:45 pm and 5 pm. Please arrange to pick up your child by 2:45 pm or 5 pm. Late fees will be assessed in the amount of $1 per minute after those times. If you know that you will be late for pick up, please call 217/353-2055 to notify CFK Staff.
Are scholarships available?
A limited number of scholarships are available for children who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

To apply complete the Registration and Scholarship Application, including the child’s essay.
Submit both forms by email to communityeducation@parkland.edu, or in person at Business Training & Community Education, 1315 North Mattis Avenue, Champaign, Illinois, 61821.

Applications will be reviewed and those who are awarded a scholarship will be notified by email.

NOTE: scholarships are awarded for only one class each summer. Should you choose to enroll your child in more than one class, you will be responsible for paying for additional classes at the time of registration. There will not be any reimbursement for classes registered and paid for before a scholarship is awarded.
Are discounts available?
Yes, children who qualify for free or reduced lunch at school are eligible for reduced CFK tuition at $129 per class. When registering online, use the code CFKSUM18 at checkout. This code will provide you with the CFK reduced tuition rate.

NOTE: Written proof or documentation of eligibility for free or reduced lunch must be submitted to CFK within 7 days of registration. If proof of eligibility is not received, your child will be dropped from class and fees will be refunded. Documentation may be requested from your child’s school. You may submit documentation via email to communityeducation@parkland.edu.
