Traffic Safety Classes

The Traffic Safety Program at Parkland College offers Defensive Driving courses for either 1) drivers of all ages who have received a single ticket violation, or 2) drivers ages 16-21 who have had a license suspended by the Secretary of State.  

Meet Your Instructor Rob Wills:

 After earning an Associate’s degree from Danville Area Community College, ROB WILLS transferred to Eastern Illinois University to earn his Bachelor's Degree and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. He spent 13 years in the Army/National Guard and served as a Heavy Weapons Platoon Leader, Rifle Platoon Leader, Executive Officer and Company Commander in several infantry units. Rob later graduated from the Police Training Institute basic law enforcement course in Champaign. He worked for several Departments in Vermilion County and spent time as an undercover narcotics officer for The Vermilion Metropolitan Enforcement Group.


Rob has spent the last twenty years as a City of Champaign police officer where he has worked in Patrol, Community Outreach, Street Enforcement, and School Resource Units. Rob has been teaching Traffic Safety courses for Parkland College since 2010.

Meet Your Instructor Jeremy Canales:

After earning a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice at Ferris State University in Michigan, JEREMY CANALES took a position with the Rapid City Police Department as a patrolman before taking a position with the Champaign Police Department.  Officer Canales has been involved with the Police Training Institute as a Emergency Vehicle Operator, Physical Trainer, and Role Player.  

Jeremy has been with Champaign Police Department since 2001.  He has taught multiple classes through the Community Outreach Program, and is currently a School Resource Officer.
