Meet the Career Services Staff: Maddie Sneddon
Maddie Sneddon has joined Career Services as the new Career Services Associate
If you’ve walked into the Career Services and Academic Advising Office at Parkland College within the past two months for a resume review, student interview, or career resources, chances are you might have met Maddie, our new Career Services Associate. She began her role at Parkland in April and is thrilled to support Parkland students’ career exploration and job search efforts.
Maddie graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in December with a Bachelor’s of Science in Advertising. During her degree program, she spent a summer interning with Target, where she focused on digital advertising and analytics. It was her other internship, however, that helped her chart her career path.
For two and a half years, Maddie interned with the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing at UIUC. That internship introduced her to working in a college setting and ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in higher education. “I loved both my time as a college student and my experience as an intern with the university,” she says. “That internship ignited my passion for supporting students, colleges, and the community. Now, I get to follow this passion as the Career Services Associate at Parkland College, and I couldn’t be more grateful and excited.”
In her new role, she leads the department’s outreach and communications efforts, including planning student programming, running the @cobrascareerservices Instagram, and building the Career Journal newsletter, which launches this August. She also meets one-on-one with students to help build resumes and prepare for their job search, as well as supports employers in connecting with students to fill openings.
In her free time, Maddie can be found reading a fantasy novel, crafting in her “junk journal”, or re-watching one of the Star Wars films for the 100th time. Stop by Career Services to say hi to Maddie this fall!
