Parkland College to Honor Veterans in a Ceremony

The 2024 Veterans Day ceremony will be held on Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. in the gallery lounge.

Parkland College honors the women and men who serve in the U.S. military and veterans. The college invites the community to attend its 2024 Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. in the gallery lounge.

Parkland's ceremony includes the singing of the National Anthem by former Parkland student Joseph Kirby; a welcome by Parkland President Pam Lau; and the presentation of campus veterans and order of service by Maurice Taylor, Admissions Associate and Navy veteran.

The featured speaker for the event will be Jim Voyles, the Chair of the Parkland Board of Trustees and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Guests will observe a moment of silence, with the playing of Taps, before closing remarks by Lisa Costello, Director of Giertz Gallery.

The Giertz Gallery is also hosting the "Experiencing Veterans and Artists Collaboration Print Project (EVAC)" traveling exhibition, recognizing veteran experiences, through Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The 2024 Veterans Day observance is sponsored by the Student Veterans Association at Parkland (SVAP).
