Jump Start Your Career Exploration with this New Tool: Google Career Dreamer

This free tool from Google uses AI to help you imagine your career future

Not sure what career might be a good fit for you? Google’s new Career Dreamer tool is a quick and easy way to explore your options, especially if you’re not sure where to start. It’s also great if you feel stuck in your current career and would like to explore ways you could pivot.

Career Dreamer is a free tool that helps you figure out what jobs might match your background, interests, or life experiences. Whether you’ve worked a few different jobs, served in the military, taken time off for family, or are just starting out, Career Dreamer can help you see how your skills might connect to different career paths.

Get started in just a few minutes:

  1. Answer a few simple questions about your experience. You don’t need a resume, just a list of your work experience and education history. The tool will suggest some skills you may have used, which will help it build a description of your experience and strengths.

  2. Career Dreamer will write you a personalized statement about your strengths. This is great for job applications, especially writing your cover letter! With this base, you can make edits and updates, personalizing the statement to your voice.

  3. Click “Explore Paths” to get a list of possible careers to explore that match up to your skills and experience. Click on the ones that interest you to learn more. If you’re ready to see what’s out there now, there are even direct links to real job listings and tips for your next steps (like writing a cover letter or updating your resume).

Why try it? Career Dreamer is fast and free, and it can help you learn about interesting career paths that you might not even know about. It’s a great way to generate ideas for thinking about your next step. This tool is especially helpful for college students who are exploring options or changing direction. You probably have more skills than you realize: let Career Dreamer show you how they can work for you. Check out the photo gallery below for some sample screenshots.
