Business and Technology Showcase April 13

Free event for high school students

Parkland College's Business/Computer Science and Technologies department hosts its second annual Business and Technology Showcase Thursday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event introduces high school students to Parkland College programs that lead to profitable careers. The showcase features workshops that will give students hands-on experience with technology in the areas of Business, Computer Science, Broadcasting, and Manufacturing. Students will attend three workshops of their choice where they interact with faculty and current students; tour Parkland's campus; hear a guest speaker on navigating the transition from high school to college; enjoy lunch; and receive an event T-shirt. Parkland business and computer science programs provide opportunities for students and industry professionals to earn certificates and degrees resulting in credentials for productive careers. Students may also pursue transfer options that will prepare them to go on to a public or private state university. During the showcase, workshop options will include: Marketing Mayhem, Entrepreneurship in Business, Cookie Cost Accounting, Microsoft Office Applications, Computer Programming, Programmable Logic Controllers, Network Administration Fundamentals, PC Maintenance and Hardware, 2D Animation Principles, 3D Computer Animation, WPCD Radio and Perimeter Record Studios, and PCTV: Parkland Television Station. To register, students can contact their high school guidance counselors, business or technology teachers, or home school lead teachers. Registration forms are available at parkland.edu/sc23. Contact Megan Przygoda, Career and Technical Education Program Manager, at bcst@parkland.edu with questions.
