Adult Literacy Tutors Needed: Project READ Orientation Feb. 2

Expanding adult education services across District 505

The Project READ literacy program, offered through Parkland Adult Education, is now accepting volunteer tutors.

Project READ will offer a tutor training session on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Moyer District Library in Gibson City. Attendees will learn more about the program that helps adults improve their basic reading, writing, math, and English language skills.

Project READ volunteer tutors work one-on-one with adult learners and may also assist in English as a Second Language and GED prep classes in the Adult Education department. Many of our tutors and learners are adults age 18 to 80. A two-hour/week commitment is all that is needed to help people improve their lives and the lives of their families.

Registration is necessary to attend the training session. To register, please call Project READ at 217/353-2662 or email projectREAD@parkland.edu by Jan. 31.
