Together We Achieve

A First-Year Community for African American Men

Everyone needs a place to belong and grow strong academically.

Together We Achieve may just be that place for you at Parkland College.
Together We Achieve (TWA) is a first-year learning community for African American men who are first-time college students at Parkland. Students in this community take classes together with extra support to adjust to the demands of college life and complete assignments with excellence. Students who participate in TWA have higher grade point averages and course completion rates than their peers.

Advisors and instructors help you plan out how to achieve your dreams through an education. You will support and be supported by other students like you in your courses. By participating in peer mentoring and in the Brother-to-Brother student organization, you will also build your leadership skills. Plus, you will enjoy activities and social networking events through the TWA program.

Who is eligible?

Eligibility is based on your assessment scores.  If you place into CCS 099 (reading) and ENG 099 or ENG 101 (writing), we strongly encourage you to consider joining Together We Achieve.
