Online and hybrid math classes are now open enrollment.
- Students must be admitted to Parkland to be considered for enrollment.
- Transcripts must be received by Parkland prior to being considered for enrollment.
- Students who have not been admitted to Parkland should contact the Admissions Office.
The
prerequisites for online and hybrid math classes will be the same as
for the on-campus math classes. Students should check the Parkland
College Class Schedule for information on math course offerings and
prerequisites.
It should be noted that due to the nature of
online math classes, previous experience with online classes is to the
student’s advantage. Students need to be aware that if they need
frequent interaction with their instructor in person, online math
classes are probably not a good idea. Students are strongly
discouraged from taking an online or hybrid math class if they have
failed or withdrawn from any section of the class in a previous
semester.
Students will be required to take an in-person
final exam, and possibly a midterm exam. These exams count heavily in
their grade, and students will be required to sign a contract with
their instructor stating they understand this. If they cannot make it
to Parkland College to take the exams, they will need to find a school
Testing Center near them to make arrangements for testing.
Once
a student is enrolled in an online or hybrid math class, they will be
contacted through Angel or their Parkland student email, so they should
check both a few days before the class starts.
