Join Our Program
Train to become a surgical technologist, providing crucial assistance to surgeons, nurses, and other surgical staff who care for patients before, during, and immediately after surgery. You will become knowledgeable in anatomy, microbiology, and pathophysiology, learning to "think like a surgeon." You'll complete rotations in surgical specialty areas as you study in up-to-date labs, classrooms, and area clinics/hospitals.
Hospitals continue to be the primary employer of surgical technologists, although physician offices and outpatient care centers, such as ambulatory surgery centers, have begun hiring more surgical techs. You may work in OB/delivery, oral surgery, the operating room, and other specialty areas. With further education, you may advance your career, becoming a surgical first assistant, surgical RN, transplant technician, laser/endoscopic technician, or other related career.
