PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM

There has never been a better time to be a professional nurse. Job opportunities for Licensed Practical Nurses abound and are expanding into new areas every day. Becoming an LPN is a rewarding career that will change your life.

Parkland’s LPN program offers students the opportunity to study and learn in a supportive environment that recognizes the special needs and commitments of the adult learner. Students will find the faculty is caring and committed to their success. We are proud of our reputation of preparing quality, professional nurses to care for patients in a variety of settings.

Our program has outstanding clinical and learning resources available to nursing students, including simulators for illness and obstetrics training. As a Parkland LPN student, you will learn with the same cohort throughout your education. Our students develop close, lifelong friendships while in the program: They study together, collaborate, and even have some fun.

After graduation, you will be able to apply to the RN Bridge program. Accepted students are placed into the third semester of the RN program. The benefit to this is that you can work as an LPN, making more money and gaining experience while you complete your RN degree.

Frequently asked questions.

Alicia L.
"The LPN program gave me an excellent base for my nursing career!"

Emy F.
"Though I've furthered my degree and worked many places, this LPN program has truly made me the nurse I am today. Not only did I learn vital skills needed as a nurse through this program, but most importantly, I learned how to take care of people, not just certain diseases. I learned how to be a patient advocate and to treat people as I would treat my own family. No matter where I go as a nurse, I always find myself coming back to my core beliefs, and they came from this program and its faculty. Truly the biggest blessing in all of my nursing experience was learned during my time in the LPN program."

Jeong H.
"I was not very sure of myself and nervous as a nursing student whose culture and language are from a different country. However, my LPN instructors walked me through Parkland's LPN program; they helped me realize the inner strength that has been with me all along and finally become the nurse that I am now. I am a BSN student at Mennonite College of Nursing in ISU and planning to become a nurse practitioner/nurse anesthetic in the future!"
