What you’ll do:
Gain a thorough working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology to provide extensive pre-hospital care to the sick or injured, as well as transport to a medical facility if needed, under the direction of physicians. Parkland partnerships with the two largest emergency medical services in the area provide you with exceptional clinical experience in a state-of-the-art teaching facility that includes the “iStan” human simulator and a training ambulance.

Our paramedic certificate (12-month, 29-credit-hour) and Associate of Applied Science (66-credit-hour) programs offer the most advanced level of training for the EMT, at an affordable cost. We also offer a 5-credit-hour Basic EMT certificate course that prepares you to provide vital care to the sick or injured.

Where you’ll go:
After successfully completing the state approved course, you are eligible to sit for the Illinois EMT-Basic Certification exam or the EMS: Paramedic and National paramedic exam; the average pass rates for the exams are 97% and 100%, respectively. Work for emergency medical services, hospitals, or police/fire departments. Advance to supervisor, operations manager, administrative director, or executive director of emergency services, or become an instructor at community colleges or training centers, with further training.
