What you’ll do:
The Automotive Technology program, featuring NATEF-certified course work, prepares you for entry-level employment as a service technician in the automotive industry. You will learn the balance of troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining today's vehicles. Hands-on technical training combine with advisory board-recommended general education course work to help you develop strong skills in our Technical, Managerial, or Motorsports concentration options. Related general education courses prepare you for advanced electrical diagnostic work and working in a team. Check out our degree, service certificate, and auto concentration certificates to find a program that fits your career goals. All automotive course work is based on National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) task lists certified by National Automotive Technicians Educational Foundation (NATEF).
Where you’ll go:
For more than 40 years, Parkland graduates have found work as skilled entry-level repair technicians for local automotive dealerships and independent service centers. Your strong technical and managerial skills will be put to good use in technical repair positions. Articulation agreements with some four-year institutions, such as Southern Illinois University Carbondale, provide excellent education advancement opportunities.
