Todd Horton is the program director of the Construction Management and Land Surveying programs. While growing up in a construction family, he worked in a hardware store and lumberyard and assisted electricians, plumbers, heating and air conditioning technicians. After college, he entered the US Air Force as a civil engineer, where he created cost estimates, coordinated design projects, and supervised heavy equipment operations. Upon returning to civilian life, Todd became a construction engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation, overseeing construction of bridges, roads, earthwork, utilities, and commercial buildings.
Todd has taught construction management and land surveying courses at Parkland since 1998. While at Parkland, he has worked as a land surveyor for local engineering companies. Beyond the campus, Todd regularly presents continuing education seminars across the country, serving the engineering and land surveying industries.
Todd is a member of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association, the National Society of Professional Surveyors, the Illinois GIS Association, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
