COLLEGE RENTAL VEHICLES

Parkland College has a fleet of vehicles available for rent through the Office of Student Life. The vehicles were purchased through the Student Activity Fund allocated by Student Government and are used to promote the total Student Activity Program. Student clubs and organizations, departments, administrators, faculty and staff may reserve a 15, 22 or 30 passenger minibus (number includes the driver) for field trips, athletic events or other approved activities. Mileage is charged back to the user and gas charges are paid by the college.

RESERVING A MINIBUS

  • The trip advisor must complete a Vehicle Request Form including the name of the organization, account number, driver information, and destination. The Director of Student Life will review and approve the request, or ask for more information before giving permission for the rental. The form is available in the Office of Stuent Life, X161, or on the "forms" page of the Parkland College website.
  • The trip advisor should be present during any use of a vehicle, but if not possible, the advisor must appoint faculty or staff as a replacement. Students may not reserve or drive a rental vehicle without an advisor or acting advisor present.
  • The driver must provide a copy of his/her driver's license to be approved by Public Safety prior to the trip. It is recommended that the advisor be the primary operator of the vehicle, however, students with pre-approved licenses may drive unless they will be participating in an athletic event.
  • Minibuses are reserved on a first come, first served basis. We strive to accommodate everyone, however, there are occasionally scheduling conflicts causing a request to be denied. Also, due to unforseen circumstances, a vehicle may not be available even though the request was previously approved. The trip advisor should be prepared to find an alternate mode of transportation in case these situations arise. The Office of Student Life will not assume any financial responsibility if a rental from an outside source is necessary to proceed with the planned trip.
  • All 3 minibuses are restricted to a 400 mile radius of the college. If your trip exceeds this restriction, you must submit an appeal to the Director of Student Life. It should include a detailed itinerary, and the names and license information for tw drivers.
  • For student safety, Field Trip Forms (in X161) must be completed and returned to X161 prior to leaving on a trip.
