ADA Endowment and Assistance Fund Scholarship
(Dental Health)

This scholarship is awarded to students currently enrolled in the second year of the Dental Hygiene Program. The student is required to be in their second year of the program, submit two letters of reference and an official copy (with the school seal) of the student's transcripts. The student must also submit a typed summary of his/her personal and professional goals as they relate to the dental discipline the applicant has chosen to pursue.

American Dental Hygienists' Association Institute for Oral Health Scholarship
(Dental Hygiene)

Must be enrolled in a Dental Hygiene program and have completed a minimum of one year in a Dental Hygiene curriculum, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have a financial need, be a full-time student and a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association.

Busey Bank Community Reinvestment Act Scholarship
(Interest in career in Banking or Finance)

Awarded to low to moderate income students with career interests in Banking, Accounting, Business Management, Marketing, or other related fields, who have been a resident of Champaign County for at least three years prior to year of application.

Award: $2,000 which can be used to cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies.

BPW/Career Advancement National Scholarship Program
(Female)

Business and Professional Women's national organization assists women wishing to enter or reenter the work force or to advance within a career field. For full- or part-time programs of study in Computer Science, Education, Paralegal, Engineering, or Science. Health care fields are not covered. Must be a female, 25 years of age or older, and a citizen of the U.S. Must graduate within twenty-four months from date of the scholarship and demonstrate a critical need for financial assistance. Must send a copy of most recent IRS 1040 form and enrollment verification. Can request an application between October 1 and April 1.

BPW/Champaign-Urbana Scholarship
(Female)

Business and Professional Women's local organization awards scholarships to female students. Student must fill out application and write a letter about why she needs the scholarship. Be sure to list telephone number and Social Security number. Scholarship is based on need.

Carle Foundation Hospital Auxiliary
(Health-related Field)

Offered by the Carle Foundation Hospital for anyone who is interested in a Human Health-related field. Selections are made through a committee of the Auxiliary. Consideration is limited to students who have been accepted in a health care professional sequence, that is, when courses are open only to student candidates for degree or certification. Applicants for advanced degrees will be considered individually. Applicants must be Illinois residents (any changes in this residency should be promptly reported to the committee), and be a full-time student.

Central Illinois Bank Challenge Scholarship
(Minority/Interest in Banking)

The minority student must be enrolled in at least 9 hours and have a GPA of 2.5 or better. This scholarship is based on financial need and covers tuition and fees, books and supplies. Part-time employment (at least twenty hours per week at the Central Illinois Bank) is a condition of the scholarship. The student will have the opportunity to work full-time at the bank during the summer term.

Central Illinois Women's Bar Association
(Law-related field)

Applicant must be at least a female high school senior planning to enter an accredited two or four year college or university the following fall in either a Law-related field or in a Women's Studies program. You must be a resident of one of the following counties: Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Champaign, Christian, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Ford, Greene, Jersey, Livingston, Logan, Macon, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Moultrie, Piatt, Pike, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Vermilion, and Woodford.

(Veterinary)

Designed for students in the field of Animal Science or studying Companion Animal courses. Available to residents of Logan, Mason, and Menard, Dewitt, Macon, and McLean Counties.

Intended for a woman student returning to college after an extended absence. Based on financial need and former/present academic merit.

The Christie Foundation Rapp Health Care Scholarship Program
(Human Health Care)

Must be accepted into health care program and be a graduate of a high school located within a twenty-five mile radius of Champaign. The scholarship is merit based.

Civil Service Employees (UIUC) Scholarship
(Organization Affiliation)

Provided for full-time University of Illinois (Urbana campus) non-academic employees and/or their dependents pursuing an undergraduate degree at any Illinois institute of higher learning. Based on financial need and academic achievement.

Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative Scholarship
(Organization Affiliation)

Must be either a Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative member or be a legal dependent of a Coles-Moultrie member and be under 21 years of age. Priority will be given to one applicant specializing in Electrical Technology.

Community Services Block Grant Scholarship
(Low Income)

Available to income eligible individuals who wish to pursue a full-time course of study leading to a career. Awarded to residents of Champaign County who have proven performance capabilities as shown in grade reports, work records, references, and letters. Funding for this program is provided through the Champaign County Community Services Block Grant awarded to the county from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.

Delta Kappa Gamma Recognition Award
(Female/Teaching)

Awarded by the Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Mu Chapter to women in the Early Childhood/Elementary, Special Ed, or Secondary Ed programs. Applicants must also be enrolled and/or have completed at least 12 semester hours of course work in the Education curriculum at Parkland including EDU 101 and Lab. Students must be presently enrolled or have completed 45 hours of observation/participation in a school setting, must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B average), must have graduated from an accredited high school, or have completed the G. E. D. test.

Paul Douglas Teacher Scholarship
(Teaching)

Offered by Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to a student who agrees to teach preschool, elementary, or secondary school on a full-time basis for two years in return for each year of the scholarship. The teaching obligation must be fulfilled within ten years after completing the degree. If not fulfilled, the recipient must repay all or part of the scholarship to ISAC. Must be a legal resident of Illinois.

Award: Up to $5,000 (per year, not to exceed cost of attendance). Currently not funded.

Designed for students in a health-related career field. Must submit two letters of recommendation, high school transcript, have good academic standing, and be a resident of the school district surrounding Gibson City. Selection is made by the Auxiliary Health Careers Scholarship Committee in May.

Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship
(High School Seniors)

Awarded to high school seniors who are planning to enroll in a Business or Secretarial-related field at an Illinois institution of higher education. Based on financial need, applicant's personal statement, scholastic excellence, and two letters of recommendation.

Illinois Community College Faculty Association Scholarship
(Sophomore/Illinois Resident)

Scholarship Criteria: Full-time student status during the academic year at an Illinois public community college; completion of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of exemplary academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4-point scale evidenced by an official (sealed) transcript; proof of Illinois residency; statement of the candidate's goals and description of voluntary (unpaid) community service and/or campus activities; letter of recommendation on official college stationery from a community college faculty member which addresses the candidate's academic performance, character, and ability to meet his/her goals; statement of verifiable financial status to include amount of household income, number of people in the household, and other scholarships or grants received for the academic year; and include the candidate's address, telephone number, and a signed copy of the following statement: "In applying for this scholarship, I understand that the ICCFA may need to validate this information. I give my permission to the Scholarship Committee to seek verification and understand that any deliberate falsification will result in my disqualification from the pool of eligible candidates."

Illinois Dental Hygienists' Association Scholarship
(Dental-Traditional)

Awarded to a student working toward a degree in Dental Hygiene. Must be second-year student in the Dental Hygiene program. Must be a full-time student, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, be a member of SADHA (send photocopy of SADHA membership card and expiration date), and submit official transcripts.

Illinois Hospital Research & Educational Foundation Scholarship
(Hospital-Related Health Care)

Available to any person accepted into or currently enrolled in a Hospital-related Health Care Professional curriculum. Must be an Illinois resident and have a GPA of 3.5. Students having less than one academic year remaining until graduation are not eligible.

Illinois Nursing Education Scholarship/Department of Public Health
(Nursing)

Awarded to qualified students who are pursuing a certification in Practical Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or a hospital-based Nursing diploma. The criteria for eligibility include (but are not limited to) that the student must be a permanent legal resident of Illinois for one year prior to application, must show proof of enrollment in the Nursing program, and submit copies of the student's SAR report. Recipients are expected to complete a Nursing program, become licensed, and begin full- or part-time employment as a practical or professional nurse in Illinois for a period of time equal to the educational time supported by the scholarship. Recipients who do not fulfill this obligation must begin cash repayment of the full scholarship amount, payable in six equal installments plus 7 percent interest per year on the unpaid balance.

Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation Scholarship
(Real Estate)

Awarded to a student who is pursuing a career in Real Estate or in an allied field. The student is required to submit, with the application, a typed, signed letter stating academic activities and intellectural interests. The eligibility criteria include financial need, submitting an official transcript of the student's grades, and submitting recommendations and references from instructors, employers, or other professionals.

Illinois Scottish Rite Scholarships
(Human Health-related Field)

Awarded to students in Human Health-related field. Must have sophomore standing and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. The scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Scottish Rite Scholarship Committee.

Illinois Sheriffs' Association Scholarship
(General)

Awarded to deserving students based on ability, merit, character, sincerity of purpose, and financial need. There is no restriction as to the course of study pursued. Selection is made by a committee of nonpartisan citizens selected by the sheriff of the applicant's county. Must be a permanent Illinois resident and be enrolled at an Illinois college.

Independent Accountants Association of Illinois Scholarship
(Accounting)

Awarded to students who are planning to pursue a career in Accounting or an Accounting related field. Must send an official transcript from each college attended and a letter of recommendation from the head of the Accounting Department or Professor of Accounting at the college you are currently attending.

Iroquois Memorial Hospital Nursing Scholarship and Employment Program
(Nursing)

Intended for Nursing students with a desire to work at Iroquois Memorial Hospital. If recipient does not graduate or pass the State Boards they must repay the amount awarded. Must submit proof of acceptance in the Parkland College Nursing Program. Must have recommendation by a Parkland College Nursing Department faculty member. The Director of Nursing Services of Iroquois Memorial Hospital will make the final selection. Must have cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better to qualify. The scholarship can be renewable with a cumulative GPA of 2.0.

ITEACH Teacher Shortage Scholarship
(formerly the David A. DeBolt Teacher Shortage Scholarship)
(Teacher)

Awarded to students who are pursuing Teaching as their career. The student must be a citizen or eligible noncitizen of the United States, a legal resident of Illinois, and a Sophomore. Must fulfill teaching requirement by teaching full-time for one year at a nonprofit Illinois public, private, or parochial preschool, elementary or secondary school for each year (or portion of a year) of scholarship assistance received. Teaching agreement must be fulfilled beginning within one year following termination of enrollment in the teaching shortage discipline funded by the ITEACH and continuing until the teaching obligation is fulfilled. One of the provisions for the scholarship is that after graduation or termination of enrollment, you must teach according to the requirements of the scholarship within a certain time frame, or the scholarship becomes a loan. Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), make satisfactory academic progress according to Financial Aid standards, have 2.50 or better GPA, and not be in default on any student loans.

Knapp Burn Foundation
(Burn Survivors)

The Knapp Burn Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1989 by the family and friends of Rick Knapp who was in an automobile accident in 1975 that left him with burns over 42% of his body. The Foundation desires to help students who are burn survivors with their tuition expenses. Students must show financial need.

Alpha A. Lee Nursing Education Endowment Fund
(Nursing)

Awarded to supplement student's living expenses while attending school. Student must be accepted into a specific program, have a 2.6 GPA on their most current transcript, and submit three letters of recommendation. Scholarship funds are allocated on the basis of need, as perceived by the scholarship committee. Students must sign an agreement to be employed, if needed, at Memorial Medical Center upon completion of their course of study.

Sponsored by Champaign-Urbana Junior Woman's Club for a graduating high-school student entering college at the freshman level. Based on financial need and academic merit.

Minority Teachers of Illinois
(Minority/Teacher)

Awarded to full-time minority students who are pursuing teaching as their career. The student must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of Illinois, be enrolled in a qualified institution, have a 2.5 or better GPA (on a 4.0 scale), complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), not be in default on a student loan, and making satisfactory academic progress. Must fulfill teaching requirement by teaching full-time for one year at a nonprofit Illinois public, private, or parochial preschool, elementary or secondary school at which no less than 30 percent of the enrolled students are minority students as certified by ISBE. Must teach one year for each year (or portion of a year) of scholarship assistance received. Teaching agreement must be fulfilled beginning within one year following the recipient's termination from a program of study funded by the MTI Scholarship and continuing until the teaching obligation is fulfilled. One of the provisions for the scholarship is that after graduation or termination of enrollment, you must teach according to the requirements of the scholarship within a certain time frame, or the scholarship becomes a loan.

The National Society of Public Accountants
(Accounting)

Open to students majoring in Accounting with a 3.0 or better GPA in their Accounting subjects and a 3.0 GPA or better in the remainder of their courses. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. Applications must be accompanied by an appraisal form and official transcripts from each school attended.

Native American Scholarship Fund, Inc.
(Native American)

This award is intended to help Native American students of any age, from any U.S. tribe, and in any state, striving to get an education. All awards are based on merit, academic achievement and ambition. An application and documentation, including a Certificate of Indian Blood, is required. A $10.00 processing fee is required.

Parke-Davis Epilepsy Scholarship
(Epilepsy)

Awarded to high school seniors, or college freshman, sophomores, or juniors who are under a physician's care for epilepsy. The eligibility requirements include academic and extracurricular activity achievements, a letter from the student's physician, two letters of recommendation, and confirmation of the students academic status.

Pavilion Auxiliary Scholarship
(Health-Related Field)

Open to students in a Health-related field. Applications are submitted to the Auxiliary along with two letters of reference and high school transcripts. Also called the Jewel Daily Scholarship. Must attend college in Illinois.

P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education
(Female)

This grant is intended to help women who have been out of school for at least twelve months or more, and are within twenty-four months of obtaining a degree. It is to be used for educational expenses necessary to reach their educational goal such as: tuition, books, transportation to and from classes, or child care while attending classes. The PCE grant is not to be used for living expenses.

Provena Covenant Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship
(Human Health Field)

Available to Illinois residents in the Human Health field. Factors considered are the applicant's academic record, health, financial need, and potential for success in his or her chosen field. Permanent home address must be within 100 miles of Champaign and the college attending must be within 250 miles of Champaign-Urbana and in the state of Illinois. The amount of the scholarship varies according to the expense and duration of the chosen program and whether the applicant is a first-time or continuing recipient.

Arthur F. Quern Information Technology (Quern IT) Grant
(Information Technology) ---CURRENTLY NOT FUNDED---

The Arthur F. Quern Information Technology (Quern IT) Grant is aimed at increasing the number of Illinois workers in the Information Technology field. This grant provides an award of up to $2,500 to qualified students pursuing additional certification or an undergraduate degree in an Information Technology field at an eligible Illinois degree-granting institution. This grant is renewable one time and can be used for payment of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses, not to exceed the cost of attendance. Awarding preference is given to renewal applicants, those who have already completed a baccalaureate degree, and to those with the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC) based on information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicant must be citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and an Illinois resident.

Roger Shanholtzer Scholarship
(Nursing)

Established in memory of Roger Shanholtzer (1942-1994) who graduated from the Parkland Nursing Program in 1985. Students must be currently enrolled in the Parkland Nursing Program. Criteria for this scholarship is low income, recommendations, and an essay indicating the applicant's goals and how they relate to Dr. Martin Luther King's dream.

Award: $1,000 for each of two years

Sickle Cell Disease Association of Illinois
(Sickle Cell Disease)

Awarded to students with sickle cell disease. They are awarded based on financial need, and academic achievement. The student must be an Illinois resident, and must also have their physician fill out the medical information in the application package.

Award: $1,500 - $2,500

St. Mary's Hospital Scholarship
(Health-Related Career)

Available to current residents of Illinois, who live within the area served by St. Mary's Hospital, and are enrolled in a Health-related career program. Must provide written verification of acceptance in a Health Care program no later than May 1. Based on financial need, interest in the chosen Health career, and scholastic ability. There are other awards for students in Radiology Therapy or for St. Mary's Hospital employees enrolled in Nursing or Pre-Nursing program.

Swiss Benevolent Society of Chicago Scholarship
(Ethnic)

Intended for Swiss national students or students of documentarily proven Swiss descent. Family genealogies are not accepted as proof. Must be a full-time student and have a GPA of at least 3.5 for all four high school years including fall semester. Must not already hold a B.A. degree. Based on academic merit.

Award: $2,500, $1,250, and $750

Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship
(Wal-Mart Employees)

Offered to high school seniors who work for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and to those associates' children ineligible for the Walton Foundation Scholarship (due to parents' length of employment or not working full-time). This is an academic scholarship, and applicants will be judged on the basis of grades, financial need, academic record, and ACT/SAT scores.

Walton Foundation Scholarship
(Wal-Mart Employee Dependent)

Awarded to a college-bound high school senior. Recipient must be the child of a Wal-Mart Store, Inc. associate who is employed full-time (28 hours per week or more) for one year as of March 1. This is an academic scholarship, and applicants will be judged on the basis of grades, financial need, academic record, and ACT/SAT test scores.

Award: 100 at $6,000 each

William Zekan Memorial
(Interest in Horses)

The Bill Zekan Memorial scholarships are awarded annually by the Arabian Horse Trust. Recipient must be able to demonstrate financial need, must have an interest in horses, and currently must be a high school senior or college freshman. At least two letters of recommendation and a recent photograph (preferably a head and shoulders) MUST be submitted with application. Please include a one-page essay on why you should be considered for this scholarship.

Zonta/Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship
(Leadership)

Student must be a woman under the age of 19 who will graduate from high school during the current school year. The YWPA award was established to encourage young women to enter careers or seek leadership positions in social policy making, government, and volunteer positions.
