MA, English, University of Illinois
PhD, English, University of Illinois

Dr. Amy Penne earned her PhD in literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a professor of English and primarily teaches composition and literature courses. Amy lives with her librarian husband and two lovely sons in Tuscola, Illinois. She is inspired by compassionate people who do great things out of love. She began her career at Parkland in 2001 and continues to be motivated by her students and colleagues.

Amy enjoys reading and writing, and she would love to travel to England, Italy, Nepal, and India. But for now, she’d settle for at least seeing New York City, for goodness’ sake. Amy listens to everything from Jack White to John Coltrane to Gregorian chant. When she’s not grading stacks of essays, Amy is a published author. You can find her work at www.thepensivepenne.com.
