Parkland international students in the English Conversational Club (ECC) know Gabriel Blinderman, one of the group’s board members, simply as “Gabe”, someone who is always willing to help them improve and develop their skills in English.
Easy to talk to and imaginative, Gabe is always inventing new ways to challenge himself to create a better environment. Ultimately, he hopes to acquire an industrial development internship after Parkland that will lead to a career in which he can mediate between sustainable engineering and profitable industrial business. For now, however, the industrial technology student is focused on completing his AAS degree, considering university options for transfer, and preparing for his May graduation. Gabe says his major provides him with great hands-on experience and a broad technical background he can use to participate in industry.
Personal relationships with the college staff and the school’s accessibility for students are what Gabe enjoys most about Parkland College. He enjoys dining on Korean cuisine at the A-RI-Rang restaurant in Champaign, talking with friends, and listening to music from a variety of artists, from Chopin to Common.
