Degree: ag transfer
Class Year: 1990
Matthias Koebler, a native of Bavaria, Germany, studied agribusiness at Parkland College from 1989 to 1990 before returning to his hometown. His Parkland training and additional education in Germany helped him become an ag-service manager and farm operator. Matthias is active in his hometown of Thalmassing, a municipality in Bavaria, where he also serves as a township board member, a member of the CSU Market Council Group, and a church board speaker.
Parkland helped Matthias "learn new skills and make connections. I was able to pick a lot of different classes and have good contact with my teachers," including retired Business and Agri-Industries Chair Gayla Sargent, who was "was very dedicated and experienced." Matthias says being "my own boss" as a farmer is what he loves best about his job. He plays in a church band and enjoys table tennis and the music of Tom Petty, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan. Matthias' wife Christine and children Thomas and Michael are his greatest inspirations.
