Title: Associate Professor

MA, The American University
MS, University of Pennsylvania
Amiable and always active, English as a Second Language Professor Wendy Patriquin also describes herself as “persistent.” She will never give up finding a way to help Parkland College students achieve their best. Perhaps this is the biggest reason students appreciate her; she loves helping others reach their goals.
The Montreal, Canada, native came to Parkland in 1999 to work as a full-time teacher of developmental (pre-college) courses. Besides working in ESL instruction, she also serves as advisor for the English Conversational Club (ECC). In this role, she works hard to involve international students in campus activities, giving them learning opportunities in American culture as well as a nice space in which to practice the skills they’ll need in the classroom. She says her proudest professional accomplishment is to watch former students graduate.
Wendy enjoys learning about the diversity of cultures as well as learning new words in other languages. She likes to exercise, is an avid reader, and draws inspiration from her family “to be a better person every day.” Her favorite quote is from Mark Twain: “Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.” You can find Wendy in Room C150 on most days where, if you’re an international student conversing in your own language, you will definitely hear her tell you: “Speak in ENGLISH, please!” Written by Jennifer Martinez Romero, Parkland student
