Garden Hills Homework Club

Winner, 2009 Collaboration Award, Community College National Center for Community Engagement (CCNCCE)

History and Purpose
The Garden Hills Homework Club was co-founded in the fall of 2007 by associate professor Brian Nudelman and Lauren Smith, community outreach coordinator for Champaign Unit 4 Schools. Parkland students, faculty, and staff serve as mentors and tutors for 3rd- through 5th-grade Garden Hills students in a positive, safe, and fun environment.

Location and Hours
Volunteers and students meet every Monday and Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the elementary school.

Parkland tutors must fill out a Unit 4 application and are screened through a criminal background check.
