Toni is a lifelong learner with a passion for understanding how the body adapts to positive and negative environmental stresses, such as nutrition and exercise. At age 11 she began running as a hobby and has enjoyed the challenges of long distance running for three decades.

A mother of two working full time, Toni involves her children as much as possible in her work: They were actively involved in her most recent graduate research investigating the effects of exercise on cognition; they help with outreach presentations at the local schools; and they provide Toni a mock audience prior to giving a Parkland College Speakers Bureau talk. During Toni’s down time, she celebrates life while exercising, taking cooking classes, and traveling with friends and colleagues.

Recently, Toni was on sabbatical investigating some of the healthiest locations in the US, and she is currently partnering with others to teach a nutrition study abroad in the Mediterranean. She designs her time around the quote, "What we learn with pleasure, we never forget," by Alfred Mercier.
