Major: Business Management and Administration

After six years working as an accountant in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, Hope Nanjala tried to come to the United States to study. Having her own audit company as an accountant is her biggest dream. “Studying at Parkland College is one step to reach my dream,” she said.

Hope has gained a lot of things by studying at Parkland. She has a different perspective of the American accounting system, as compared with the British system. She also said the education system in the U.S. is different inform the Kenyan system; there, “professors help students understand their courses more, and the facilities at Parkland are very good.

“My favorite professor is Mr. Kesler in my Entrepreneurship class; his teaching style is unique,” she said.

The hardworking Hope said nothing comes easy. But, even among her serious days of the week, she still enjoys spending time with her friends. Her favorite place in Champaign is the cinema and Old Chicago. She also watches movies a lot, which is what she usually does in her spare time.
