What does jazz instructor/enthusiast Ian Patrick Cler love most about his career? “I get to teach and play music for a living.” The 2008 Parkland music transfer, who received a full scholarship to attend Parkland, is currently finishing a degree in Jazz Studies/ Composition and Arranging at Columbia College in Chicago.

Although he appreciated the instruction he received from all his instructors, Ian expressed particular gratitude for music program director Tim Schirmer and music instructor Peter Roubal. “Parkland gave me the tools I need in order to grow,” he said.
