Meet Faces of Parkland

Josef Kash

Josef Kash
Hometown: Ziway, Ethiopia
Major: Communication
Interests: Piano, guitar, soccer, listening to music, making people laugh

Josef Kash took Communication as a major because he likes working in TV and radio. He loves studying at Parkland, where he works part time as a radio announcer for WPCD-FM.

”The diversity of the Communication curricula is very beneficial, especially for students who aren’t sure what they want to do in the future,” Josef said. “I’ve gained a broad understanding of communications and its many facets. Also, I’ve met and befriended new people from many different places.”

Josef was born in Ziway, Ethiopia. He is active in classroom discussion; he “always has an opinion” and is willing to express it. He is studying hard to be able to reach his dream career, to host his own show. His biggest life passion is making people laugh, and his goal is to do it as long as he lives. “A degree in Communication will help me do that within the entertainment industry,” he said.

Besides school and work, Josef plays piano, guitar, and soccer in his spare time. He enjoys most all genres of music, and his favorite sports team is the Chelsea Football Club.

When he finishes his Parkland studies, Josef plans to transfer to the University of Illinois.
