In order to use the PC Print system, you will need to have a PC Print card OR a Parkland ID card that was issued after 8/20/2005.  If you have an older ID card and would like to be able to use it for printing, you may go to X161 and get a new card free of charge.  PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR PARKLAND ID CARD IS FREE WHEREAS THE PC PRINT CARD WILL COST YOU MONEY.  The purpose of PC Print is to reduce waste and to encourage the efficient use of printing resources in the Library and in the D209, M108, L217, and B117 computer labs.

How much does each printed page cost?

The cost is $.05 per page for black and white printouts. Color printouts, only available in the Library, cost $.25 per printed page.  Payment for printing can only be made with a PC Print card or a Parkland ID card.

Where do you buy the PC Print card (if you opt to do so) and how much does it cost?

You may purchase a PC Print card from Add Value Centers (vending machines) which are located in the Library and in the D-wing outside of D209.  PC Print cards are not sold in the computer labs.

PC Print cards cost $1.00 each and come with $.25 of print credit on them.  Please note that you only need to buy one card and then add value to it as needed.  Please remember that it is not necessary to purchase a PC Print card.  You can also add print value to your Parkland ID card and the ID card itself is free.

How do you add value to the PC Print card or Parkland ID?

You may add value to your card at either of the two Add Value Centers on campus.  Insert your PC Print card or Parkland ID and then insert money in the exact amount you want to purchase – bills only, no coins accepted, no change returned.  Value can only be added in increments of $1, $5, $10, or $20 with a $50 value limit per card.

   How do you print?

Step 1:  Make sure that you are actually ready to print.  Have you proofread your document?  Have you done a preview to confirm that there are no blank pages tacked on to the end of your document?  Do you need all of those pages?  Does your card have enough credit on it?

Step 2:  Once you are ready, click “Print.”  A dialogue box will appear and prompt you for a user name and password.  Type in a user name and password of your choosing and remember them as you will need to know what they are in order to claim your print job.  Please note that your job will show up on the PC Print release station computer in D209, M108, B117, L217, as well as in the Library meaning that you can pay for and pick up your job in any of these locations.  The one exception is color print jobs which can only be printed in the Library.

Step 3:  Go to the release station computer located next to the printer and enter your user name at the prompt.  You will see a list of all the print jobs that you have sent (but not yet claimed) in the last 18 hours.  Select the job you want to print, enter your password when prompted, and then insert your PC Print card or Parkland ID into the card reader in order to pay for the job.  If you do not have enough money on the card to print the whole document, the release station will not print your job.  You will need to visit an Add Value Center in order to add funds and then return to the release station to claim your printed document.

Please Note:  Eight of the computers in the M108 lab are Apple Macintosh machines.  On those computers, the printing procedure is slightly different.  Please ask the lab monitor on duty for assistance if you need help printing from one of the Macs.

What about lost, stolen, or damaged PC Print cards or cards that are no longer needed?

Parkland College is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged cards.  It is important that you keep your card in a safe place.  No refunds will be given.  If you find a lost card or if you have finished up your studies at Parkland and are no longer in need of your PC Print card, you may bring it to the Campus Technologies office, room D248.

Please Note:  Your card will get jammed in the Add Value Center as well as in the card reader if it is bent or if it has any stickers on it.
