"First (and Last) 35mm Film Festival
The Staerkel Planetarium opened in 1987 as a member of the C-360 consortium. This organization of planetariums would pool their resources to obtain 35mm prints of selected IMAX movies to show in their domes. These films showed to sold out crowds in March and April and we'll bring them back for one night only after Memorial Day due to popular demand. Put them on your calendar and see them one last time before their retirement! The line-up of films can be found here.
Spirits From the Sky, Thunder on the Land
Come with us on a never-before-seen journey into the culture of the Pawnee Native American Nation, who lived in what is now Nebraska and northern Kansas from the 1600’s to 1876. Their culture grew out of their legends and lore of skywatching. The show takes you inside a Pawnee earth lodge through the development of the agricultural calendar and the Pawnee creation legend. Begins May 2 at 8pm.
Pink Floyd 's "Wish You Were Here "
If you thought "Dark Side of the Moon" was good, here is the sequel! Don't just listen; experience Pink Floyd's 1975 album through imagery, lights and sound. From "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" to "Welcome to the Machine," you'll wish you were here on Friday and Saturday nights this spring! Opens February 15!
