The Parkland Advantage
How to Apply

Parkland's physics classes teach students the physical laws that govern the world around us. Physicists study the behavior and properties of matter from sub-nuclear particles to the behavior of the material universe as a whole. Physical theories are expressed in mathematical terms, so a solid mathematical background is needed to study advanced physics, such as is required for engineering and other related fields.
Physics classes are available for students with widely different backgrounds and levels of preparation. PHY 100 is an introductory class for those with little or no physics background. PHY 111 (Applied Physics: Mechanics) and 112 (Applied Physics: Heat and Electricity) are designed for students in a two-year technical curriculum. PHY 121 and 122 (General Physics I and II) are designed for the students in arts and sciences. PHY 141 (Mechanics), 142 (Electricy and Magnetism), and 143 (Modern Physics) are designed for the advanced student who has a background in calculus.
PHY 121 (General Physics I) and 141 (Mechanics) meet the IAI transfer requirements.
