It’s been a banner week for the Parkland Cobras Volleyball and Men’s Soccer teams, both winning Mid-West Athletic Conference titles during recent tournament play.
With wins over Lincoln Land and Lewis and Clark, the #2 ranked Parkland Volleyball team pushed its conference record to 8-0 and earned the Cobras the conference win in M-WAC championships, Oct. 18-19. The matches included a 3-1 victory over #10 Lincoln Land, 25-22, 25-19, 13-25, 25-12 and a 3-0 victory over Lewis and Clark, 25-11, 25-18, 25-16.
Meanwhile, the Parkland Men's Soccer team clinched its first M-WAC title since 2008 by winning a hard-fought battle with Danville Area Community College, 2-1, in Danville Oct. 16. Playing its first night game of the season, the team went up against a charged-up DACC squad playing not only its final home game of the season but its final home match for the program, as it is being discontinued after this season is over. With the win, Parkland (10-2-3) wrapped up the #2 seed in the upcoming Region 24 tournament quarterfinals, which it will play at home this Saturday, Oct. 26, with a noon game against Heartland.
Congratulations to our M-WAC men’s soccer and volleyball champions!
