Students Earn Scholarships through Townsend Press Reading Contest

Contest promotes reading through scholarships for books read

Six Parkland students have received scholarships for reading assigned books as part of the Townsend Press Reading Contest:
 
Susan Hubbard, Champaign ($200 scholarship for 20 books)
Lisa Reder, Champaign ($100 scholarship for 10 books)
Charlene Baylis, Champaign ($100 scholarship for 10 books)
Janie Cantu, Arcola ($100 scholarship for 10 books)
Cynthia Lubamba, Urbana ($100 scholarship for 10 books)
Tiffany Tucker, Springfield ($100 scholarship for 10 books)

Parkland’s Center for Academic Success offers the reading contest in conjunction with Townsend Press. The West Berlin, NJ, publishing company seeks to promote reading by sponsoring scholarship contests, publishing a library of $1 paperbacks, distributing reading motivation posters, and donating books to schools and community organizations.
