Faculty, Staff Excellence Winners, 2015

Five employees honored with campus, regional, national annual awards

To honor their superior employee service excellence, three Parkland College faculty members and two staff members earned campus, regional, and national organizational honors for 2015, nominated through Parkland’s Professional Development Subcommittees for Faculty and Staff.

Erin Wilding-Martin
Dr. Erin Wilding-Martin, Mathematics
2015 Outstanding Faculty Member, Central Region - Association of Community College Trustees
 • "Exemplary and engaging teacher" of mathematics
 • Led Parkland's algebra/math literacy redesign
 • Winner, Illinois Community College Trustees Assocation Outstanding Full-time Faculty Member Award, 2015
 • Member, Developmental Mathematics Committee of the American Mathematical  Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC)
• Former member, AMATYC’s Research in Mathematics Education for Two-Year Colleges Committee
Craig McMonigal 
Craig McMonigal, Fine and Applied Arts
2015 Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Member, Illinois Community College Trustees Association
• "Consistent and thoughtful" photography instructor 
• Twenty-one years of commitment to Parkland
• Called "an integral part of Parkland's Art and Design program" 
• Member, Society for Photographic Education
• Parkland representative on the Illinois Higher Education Art Association
Amy Myers Amy Myers, Social Sciences and Human Services
 Winner, 2015 Parkland Teaching Excellence Award
 • Economics professor considered a "rock" and "mentor" to her students
• More than 30 years of commitment to student success at the college level
• Served as department chair for SSHS for 6 years
• Former program director/coordinator for economics, political science, geography and the college success course (PSY 109)
• Vice Chair of Criterion 1 (Mission) for the 2012 Parkland College Self Study
Aimee Densmore
Aimee Densmore, Academic Scheduler
Parkland Outstanding Staff Award (Gold - six or more service years)
• 12 years of service to Parkland
• Work impacts areas as diverse as room scheduling for groups within and outside Parkland, the Curriculum Committee, On-Time Registration, the Catalog, the Course Information Form database, enrollment monitoring, and course cancellation
• Took the lead in 2012 on a project to implement "25 Live," the College's room scheduling software  
• Coordinated the first-ever CollegeNET Midwest Regional Conference at Parkland in 2013
Cindy Smith 
Cindy Smith, Fine and Applied Arts Media Content Coordinator
Parkland Outstanding Staff Award (Green- five or fewer service years)
• Recruits and coordinates the Applied Media Promotion (AMP) program
• Serves as recruiter for Fine and Applied Arts
• Under her guidance, AMP students have produced high quality work for many departmental clients inside Parkland and for nonprofits
