The Parkland College Child Development Center will extend its hours of operation starting early next year. Effective January 3, 2017, the new operating hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., according to Nancy Kemna, the center’s director. "It is a practice of Parkland's Child Development Center to survey parents annually to learn how we can better serve our current and future families," Kemna said. "A recent survey showed there was an overwhelming interest for us to stay open later, so we decided to extend our closing hours from 4:30 to 5:15." The state-licensed Parkland CDC is a demonstration laboratory school open to Parkland students, staff, faculty, and community residents. Enrolling youth ages 2 to 5 years, the center provides a foundation for learning that includes the total development and education of each child, while recognizing the family as the child's primary teacher and decision maker. The Parkland College Child Development Center, located in building G at the school's main campus, is currently accepting new enrollees ages 2 to 5 for the spring 2017 semester.
