Art Students Earn Awards in Statewide Juried Exhibit

Works by six student artists part of 2014 Illinois Community College Juried Exhibition

Works by six Parkland College Art and Design students recently appeared in the 2014 Illinois Community College Juried Exhibition. Four of the students received merit awards of $150 for their work (indicated by asterisk): 
 
Chan Bao (3 pieces accepted), Triceratops* (3-D design) 
Julio Gaytan, Frouse or Moug* (3-D design)
Leila Ghasempoor (2 pieces accepted), Khosro and Shirin* (painting)
Eunsook Park, Blue Horse* (sculpture)
Erin Rogers, Ceramics
Al Tindle, Ceramics 
 
Only 40 works were selected for the exhibit, held at the Visual Arts Gallery at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, February 24–March 8. Works selected for the exhibit were completed between August 2012 and late January 2014. More than $1,500 in awards, including a $500 Best in Show Award, were presented during a closing reception at the gallery.
