Parkland Places No. 1 in Illinois in NJCAA Athletic Rankings

NATYCAA Cup/Learfield Sports Director's Cup ranking based on runner-up finish, solid NJCAA appearances

Monday, June 30, 2014
Parkland College ranks as the top school in Illinois in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Scholarship Division for 2013-14, the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators announced today.

Athletics Director Rod Lovett attributes the high state ranking to Parkland’s runner-up finish in Volleyball and solid appearances by the Women's Basketball and Men's Golf teams. Iowa Western Community College was this year’s overall winner for Scholarship Division schools, with Iowa Central CC and Tyler (Texas) Junior College ranking second and third.

The NATYCAA Cup rankings also form the basis for the prestigious Learfield Sports Director's Cup, Junior/Community College Division. The Learfield Sports Director's Cup, also divided into scholarship and non-scholarship divisions, has been awarded to community colleges for the past three years.

Parkland congratulates its athletic teams, coaches, and administrators for a job well done!
